Okay, first let me say, I know I haven't posted in, oh...six months. But the past is the past. So anyway, here we go:
I spent about 2 hours on the Barack Obama website today creating a profile and searching groups and looking up events. I've spent uncounted hours watching CNN's "Ballot Bowl". I find myself thumbing through the paper looking for news on the election.
This is new to me. I've never felt the need to follow politics so closely. I think I normally feel like either way the political decision goes, it's not going to really matter all that much to me.
No matter who I support, they aren't really representing what I believe in. But for some reason, I find myself really believing that things CAN be different. That a chance like this may not come around again for another 40 years. Maybe even stranger, I find this election very personal to me. So much that I would feel REALLY depressed if Obama did not receive the nomination. Again, this is new to me.
So, here I am, posting a blog entry on a political candidate for a party I don't completely agree with, in a political system I don't completely believe in. Before this year I was a cynic. But I'm enjoying this breath of fresh air.
Thanks, Barack.
